Vote down school referendum
What does the proposed referendum for Grayslake School District 46 really mean? There is a tax break scheduled for the tax payers in the district coming in November 2025. It will amount to several hundred dollars a year, and the administration wants the tax payers to forfeit 88 percent of that tax break.
They didn't go "whole hog" and ask for all of it. That wouldn't "fly," so they propose to let us keep about 12&. Wasn't that good of them? If they weren't so greedy, many would be more likely to support the proposed referendum.
Additionally, the tax break will not lower the funding that is currently in place for education since the taxes in question just go to pay off the bond obligation.
As for this referendum, I urge all voters in Grayslake to vote it down. Then we can talk.
