Sarah Hall Theatre Company Expands Youth Programs in Highland Park and Deerfield

In 2024, Sarah Hall Theatre Company is embarking on an exciting year of growth. The beloved local youth theatre and dance company is introducing a new theater program in Highland Park while expanding its Deerfield offerings to include dance programming. This expansion not only fills a need for more creative programming in the area, but offers children exciting avenues to enhance their self-confidence through the performing arts.

Having successfully run programs in Glencoe and Deerfield for nearly a decade, Sarah Hall Theatre Company is now primed to expand its reach and bring its enriching programming to more young talents in the surrounding areas.

In Highland Park, the newly introduced "Little Footlighters" program is designed for children in Grades K-2. Little Footlighters engages young participants in theatre games, rehearsals, and live performances, where they will develop fundamental acting skills and rehearsal techniques essential for success on the stage, all while having fun! For the winter/spring session, this program will run from January 18 to May 9 on Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 5:15 PM at the Irina Makkai Studio. In Deerfield, Sarah Hall Theatre Company is expanding its offerings by introducing dance programming through the Deerfield Park District at the Sachs Recreation Center. The youth dance program includes two new classes designed for children aged 3-5. The "Mini Ballet and Hip Hop Combo Class" is a unique opportunity for preschoolers to explore basic ballet techniques and fun, rhythmic hip-hop movements in an exciting combination class. Additionally, for children in Grades K-2, the "Little Hip Hop" class combines elements of hip-hop and breakdance using current top hits, encouraging individual expression and personal style.

For older children in Grades 3-5, the "Youth Hip Hop" class combines elements of hip hop and breakdance using popular music, allowing students to explore their unique style and individual expression through dance. Registration for the Deerfield Dance Program will open on November 13, 2023, through Deerfield Park District at https://www.deerfieldparks.org/.
