Officials: No one injured in Palatine house fire likely caused by space heater

A two-story Palatine home was left uninhabitable by a fire Tuesday morning that officials believe was started by a space heater in a bedroom.

No one was injured in the blaze, which started just before 10 a.m. at a home on the 300 block of W. Glade Road, village fire officials said.

Firefighters arrived at 9:57 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the front of the house, officials said. One of the two residents of the home told fire crews that everyone had gotten out of the house.

The fire was under control in about 30 minutes, officials said.
