Dubious week for the GOP
America is on a roll this week, well the Republicans and the NRA anyway. The USA not soon much.
The House Republicans, who haven't been able to tie their shoes till now, have a Trump kiss-up to "lead" them. The NRA has more bodies to chalk up in their Second Amendment defense, and just to sweeten life, we have a Supreme Court that hasn't the gravitas to referee a game of ticktack.
I was a Republican years ago, till I noticed that Reagan's "trickle-down economics" had the distinct odor of runoff from the executive restrooms. It was the Republican runup to Trump's "wonderful" tax break, which though similar, had a stronger odor and effect.
As for the NRA, I was brought up with a couple of .22s over the doorways in my bedroom. My father was a life member until they fought restrictions on automatic weapons. He resigned. I have fired a larger rifle than most of the members (I was the pointer on a twin 5"-38-gun mount for two years and I pulled the trigger.)
The Second Amendment is and has been obsolete since single-shot muskets were obsolete and the same with the need for a militia. We have a standing Army to protect the country, we don't need a rag tag bunch of saviors, who don't show up half the time anyway.
The Supreme Court needs an enforceable code of ethics. Its current makeup is beyond suspect of neutral honesty. What members haven't been identified as taking bribes/or outright lying are powerless to rectify the situation without such a code of ethics.
