Huntley District 158 names new school board member

Dana Wiley has been selected to fill a vacancy on the Huntley Community School District 158 board.

Wiley replaces Gina Galligar, who resigned in September.

"I am honored to have been selected from an extremely qualified group of applicants for this important role," Wiley said in a news release.

Nine candidates were interviewed for the vacancy. Wiley's term runs through the spring of 2025.

Wiley has served on the Chesak-Martin parent-teacher association for eight years and on various district panels, such as the strategic planning, elementary parent advisory and dual language committees. She also has volunteered through various church and youth sports programs.

She has a bachelor's degree in political science from DePaul University and works as a proposal manager for a software development firm.

Wiley was selected to fill the vacancy during a special board meeting Thursday. She will be sworn in at next Thursday's board meeting.

"We look forward to the future contributions of Ms. Wiley, whose broad experience, visibility in the community and passion for the district will serve us well," school board President Andy Bittman said.
