Janish hired as White Sox's farm director

Needing to hire a director of player development after being promoted to White Sox general manager on Aug. 31, Chris Getz is bringing in Paul Janish to fill his old job.

The 41-year-old Janish, who played parts of nine major-league seasons with the Reds (2008-11), Braves (2012-13) and Orioles (2015-17), takes over the Sox's minor-league system after spending the last two years as Rice University's associate head coach.

"(Janish) has lived every step of the development ladder, from being a national champion player at Rice to being drafted, reaching the majors and then coaching successfully at a high-level program like Rice," Getz said. "We are pleased to have him take the next step in his career with the White Sox and welcome him into the organization to lead our development system."
