Concert series resumes Nov. 5 at St. Charles Public Library

The St. Charles Public Library's Sunday Concert Series resumes on Sunday, Nov. 5, featuring Dr. Josh Graham performing "New Works for Marimba Based on Literature."

The composers, including Katherine Pukinskis, Griffin Candey, and Michael Conrad, draw their inspiration from works of literature, including Ernest Hemingway's "The Nick Adams Stories," the poetry of Iowan James Hearst, and Psalm 139.

The Chicago Tribune praised Dr. Graham as "beguiling," and the Chicago Classical Review calls him a "superb performer." He currently serves as instructor of percussion at the University of Northern Iowa, principal percussionist of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, and also performs with F-PLUS and the Zafa Collective.

Graham holds degrees from Central Michigan University, The University of Michigan, and the University of Illinois.

The concert will be at 2 p.m. in the Carnegie Community Room at the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

Since 1981, the library has featured a wide variety of musical performances. The public is invited and the concerts are free to attend. The St. Charles Public Library is located at One South Sixth Avenue in St. Charles. For more information, visit www.scpld.org or call (630) 584-0076.
