Batavia High School to put on 'Mean Girls' Nov. 9-12

Batavia High School's fall musical production will be "Mean Girls: High School Version." This musical gives more than a great opportunity for students to show off their acting skills. It's also an opportunity to deliver a message against bullying.

This is truly a showstopping number with over 70 students, a state-of-the-art set, and an incredible production team that also brought you "42nd Street," "SpongeBob" and "Rent."

For the past few months, students have been preparing a high school adaptation of "Mean Girls," a musical based on the 2004 movie starring Lindsay Lohan.

The original story written by Tina Fey, revolves around a student, Cady Heron, who transfers into a new high school and then observes and falls prey to some of the school's cliques. Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois.

How will this naive newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina's reign, she learns the hard way that you can't cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.
