Pottawatomie Garden Club gives Landscape Commendation Award to St. Charles church

On Oct. 23, the Pottawatomie Garden Club met for their Autumn Luncheon where the annual Landscape Commendation Award was presented to Father David Peck from St. John Neumann Catholic Church in St. Charles.

Each year the garden club presents this award to a place or business in the community that has beautified their property through landscaping.

That certainly is true of St. John Neumann Church in St. Charles. Father Peck and his volunteers have spent the last 10 years transforming the weeded area around the church into a beautiful and serene perennial garden.

It is a beautifully designed area. Father Peck explained to the audience at the luncheon that, by getting rid of the weeds and toiling to beautify the area, he and his volunteers are honoring God's bounty.

The church is located at the northwest corner of Kirk Road and Route 64 on St. Charles' east side.

The club hosts general meetings on the fourth Monday of the month, from March through October.
