Lombard Service League joins in Day of Service, collecting food and clothing

Lombard Service League participated in the Sept. 30 National Day of Service, sponsored by the General Federation of Women's Clubs, an international women's organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

Clothing and food supplies were collected on Sept. 30 and delivered to Christ the King on Sunday, Oct. 1.

In all, the club members collected $300 in food items, $55 in cash donations and 72 items of clothing.

The club also recently donated to the Midwest Center for Disabled Veterans and the Children's Research Foundation.

Organized in 1950, the Lombard Service League is a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs. The club serves the community through various service projects and fundraisers. The League identifies needs within the community, raises monies, and makes funding determinations.
