Outrageous statements fuel ongoing hatred
As a former Chicagoan (born and raised), I was devastated and deeply ashamed to read: " Mourners in heavily Palestinian suburb remember Muslim boy killed as kind, energetic" on Oct. 17. When our social, business and political leaders make violent, emotional and irrational statements such as Nikki Haley's "Finish them all," or Lindsay Graham's fanatical and dangerous push to bomb Iran despite the lack of evidence of Iran's involvement in this Hamas attack, are we honestly surprised when this horrific hatred, rush to judgment and murderous violence spills over here?
The vicious and unprovoked murder of 6-year-old Wadea should be a wakeup call to all Americans that we are losing collective humanity. It is never acceptable to murder children regardless of their ethnicity. All children are innocent. Our leaders are encouraging violence within our own community. This is just not acceptable in a civilized democracy and must be condemned.
Shame on the mainstream corporate-controlled media and our "leaders" for fueling the flames of ignorance, racism and hatred leading to the murder of innocent children.
