Cook County awards nearly $5 million in grants to combat domestic violence

Cook County has awarded nearly $5 million in grants this month through its Domestic Violence Intervention and Support Services Initiative, officials announced Wednesday.

Funded with federal COVID relief money, the initiative was created in response to increased levels of gender-based violence since the onset of the pandemic. Grant awards range from $132,000 to $1.5 million, and support services through September 2025.

Eight community-based organizations from across Cook County received a grant. They include: American Indian Health Services of Chicago; ANEW: Building Beyond Violence and Abuse; The Crisis Center for South Suburbia; KAN-WIN; Mujeres Latinas En Acción; The Network Advocating Against Domestic Violence; Sarah's Inn; and Palatine-based WINGS Program, Inc.
