Merger of two congregations is a blessing

Thank you for the good news on Friday the 13th.

First, I want to say I am a white woman born during the Depression, so I have lived through more domestic battles and worldwide wars than I care to think about. I have been a member of the United Methodist Church all my adult life. That said, I was literally brought to tears of happiness when I read of the merging of the All Nations Aurora Church and Ginger Creek Church into one congregation - The Purpose City Church.

Most of us are aware that church attendance fell sharply during the pandemic, and it has not recovered. That these two churches, one with all white members and the other all black members, could find it in their hearts to merge brings me hope for the future of Christianity.

You do your "City of Lights" proud, and I shall pray for your continuing success as one congregation.
