School Health Partners with ZOLL® for AED Rescue Wall
During National AED and CPR Awareness Week, School Health, in collaboration with ZOLL® Medical, unveiled its highly anticipated Rescue Wall at School Health's headquarters. The wall is a visual representation of the collective effort in saving lives using automated external defibrillators (AEDs) across the United States. Each time a life is saved an AED-shaped magnet is placed on the corresponding state where the rescue occurred.
"School Health has always advocated for the health and safety of students, staff and their communities," said Rob Rogers, School Health president. "The Rescue Wall will allow every School Health and ZOLL® team member to observe how crucial the AEDs we provide are in saving lives."
"ZOLL is honored to join School Health in commemorating this special moment," said Troy Pflugner, vice president of U.S. Public Safety Sales. "Together, ZOLL and School Health are at the heart of saving lives. I can't think of a better story to tell than when a life is saved."
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) occurs when there is a disturbance in a person's heartbeat, causing the heart to unexpectedly stop beating or beat irregularly. An AED analyzes an individual's heart rhythm to restore a regular rhythm via electric shock during an SCA event.
"AEDs have become more widely accessible across the country over the past few years, and we have seen an increase in survival rates not only in schools, but at sporting events and public venues," said Susan Rogers, School Health chief people officer. "Many individuals will never need to operate an AED, but when an incident does occur, bystanders can be prepared to save a life."
While SCA is more commonly seen in adults, it can still occur to children and young adults. The use of an AED can significantly increase the chances of survival for individuals experiencing SCA, especially when combined with CPR. This combination can double or even triple an individual's chances of survival while waiting for medical professionals.
"The Rescue Wall serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that our partnership has on our customers, their families, and the unexpected heroes that had the power to act and the power to save a life," said Pflugner.
