Rev. Jon Wasson Called as New Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest
Lake Forest, IL - October 16, 2023 - The congregation of the First Presbyterian Church elected the Rev. Jon Wasson to be the new Senior Pastor for the church on August 27, 2023. Rev. Wasson's ministry with the church begins this Sunday, October 22, at the 9:30 am worship service, followed by fellowship. All members of the community are invited to attend this service, or on any following Sunday at 9:30 am.
Jon has over fifteen years of experience with large, complex, multi-pastor churches, most recently as the Associate Pastor of Discipleship at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin, TX. The search committee was drawn to Jon's leadership and energy, inspirational worship, strong relational and collaborative management, and his ability to form community connections. Jon shared, "I look forward to collaborating with staff and congregational leaders to renew and strengthen the ministries of the church and discern together where God will lead us in the future."
Jon is an avid trail runner, cyclist, outdoor enthusiast, and devoted Arsenal fan. For his own spiritual nourishment, he recently took a 12-week sabbatical, including a pilgrimage by bike on the Camino de Santiago ("The Way of St. James") in the northwest of Spain. Jon and his wife, Abby have two sons.
