A good idea for seniors
In reference to the letter of Oct. 6 from Barbara Bodnarchuk, I just want to congratulate her for thinking outside the box. With all the craziness going around about the difficulty of scheduling a driving test for seniors, this is a way to completely avoid all of that, and I give the writer credit for presenting it. Ms. Bodnarchuk suggested we contact the secretary of state and let him know our concerns, which I have just done.
The letter states the big differences between Illinois and many other states that don't require these road tests and I have not seen statistics that demonstrate how those states have suffered from their rules. I think there would have been published stories if that were the case.
So, as much as I really like what the secretary is doing I just wish he would reconsider this issue. I know many people would be relieved if they didn't have this hanging over them. Oct. 17 is coming up fast. Let us hope that clear heads prevail.
