Geneva High School named a National Blue Ribbon School

Geneva High School was recently recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2023.

"The honorees for our 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award have set a national example for what it means to Raise the Bar in education," said U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona in a press release.

According to the DOE, the National Blue Ribbon School distinction is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning. Schools are identified based on a variety of academic criteria including SAT scores and graduation rate, and formal selections are made after a rigorous application process. Geneva High School is one of only four high schools in Illinois and only 353 schools nationwide to be chosen for this distinction.

"We are thrilled that GHS is being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. This award is made possible because of our incredible students, caring and dedicated faculty, staff and administration, and supportive parents and community," Principal Tom Rogers said. "This is an award that recognizes the collective effort of all stakeholders in our amazing community that values education."

As a Blue Ribbon School, it will participate in a variety of recognition opportunities throughout the upcoming year.

"Geneva High School's recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School holds special significance here in a unit school district where we all work together to create the type of caring and rigorous learning environment in which we can all believe," said Geneva Schools Superintendent Andy Barrett. "We're proud to have been recognized with this honor and inspired to continue building upon our success."
