This year's Lombard Senior Man and Senior Woman of the Year winners announced
Lombard's 2023 Senior Man and Senior Woman of the Year Awards were presented on Wednesday, Oct. 4, during the 17th annual Senior Fair at the Madison Meadow Athletic Center.
Glenn Foster, a lifelong Lombard resident and former U.S. Navy E4 petty officer radioman, was named the 2023 Senior Man of the Year.
Foster served Lombard as a fireman for 30 years and helped establish the Arson Investigation Unit. In addition, he founded Lombard Cruise Nights in 1998, which has been a huge success within the community and will celebrate its 25th year in downtown Lombard next year.
In recognition of her tireless efforts, Ellen Leitschuh was named as the 2023 Senior Woman of the Year. She has been a devoted resident of Lombard for almost three decades and has made a significant impact through her volunteer work with organizations such as Outreach House, TLC Camp, Easter Seals and Tri-Town YMCA.
Additional nominees for the 2023 Senior of the Year included Stephen Flint, Joe Maderak, and Rich Martin.
"It's our honor to recognize these inspiring Lombard residents," said Trustee Dan Militello and Chairperson of the Community Relations Committee. "They embody the values that make our community strong and remind us of the impact one person can have on the lives of many."
The Senior Fair was attended by nearly 400 seniors and offered various services, including flu shots, blood pressure checks, and valuable information from close to 60 vendors.
The Senior Fair is supported by the Community Relations Committee, which consists of chairperson Dan Militello, alternate chairperson Trustee Bernie Dudek, and committee members Ahmed Ali, Pamela Bedard, Michael Ledonne, Kaveria Lezza, Gladys Piper, and Sharon Vish.
