Let site be available for something useful

I live in Oswego, and I am just an impartial observer regarding the fate of the old blacksmith shop at Route 25 and Route 38. I have driven past the building, but it is so rundown, one just assumes that it either will fall down on its own or be cleared out for development.

The Geneva City Council tells us that this is an important link to earlier Swedish settlers. OK, so what? There is nothing contained in and around this structure that even the staunchest historian can get excited about. The owners of the property just own it. They do not use it for anything. It is probably dangerous to rummage around looking for anything significant about the structure.

My main question is this; OK, Geneva, you want to preserve it, who pays for the renovation? What is your plan for usage after you've spent thousands of dollars to shore it up to be used for anything?

How about a tourist attraction? Why would even the most loyal visitor to the great shops and restaurants in Geneva go out of their way to see an empty building that was supposedly a blacksmith shop between 1840 to 1860. Since then, what has it been used for? Nothing that anyone can see or tell.

Geneva, give it up. Let the owners clear that space for anything/something that could prove useful to all citizens not just sentimentality.
