Letting go of the Bears
My first Bears game was at Wrigley Field. Ed Brown outdueled Bobby Layne and the Steelers 14-10. From that time on, the Bears, even trailing behind the Johnny Unitas Colts and the Bart Starr Packers always had at least an awesome defense. Then came the high-point (after 1963) the 1985 Super Bowl champs; but it's been downhill ever since.
The pathetic product that the McCaskeys have been putting on the field for these past 37 years is an embarrassment to the city of Chicago (I'm sure Mr. Halas must be rolling over in his grave).
At least the Cubs were "lovable" losers. Now I am finally letting go. Let them move to the suburbs and call themselves the Arlington Heights Bears so that they may no longer embarrass the memory of Papa Bear.
