Two Waukegan men accused of gunrunning in Lake and Cook counties

Two Waukegan men have been accused of trying to sell illegal firearms in Lake and Cook counties.

A news release issued Wednesday by the Illinois attorney general's office said Cesar Morales, 25, and Agustin Prado, 28, are each charged in Lake County court with gunrunning and unlawful sale or delivery of firearms. Morales also is charged with armed violence and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, the news release said.

Authorities allege that in June and July, Morales and Prado worked together to sell six firearms and an ounce of cocaine in Lake and Cook counties. The news release said Morales also sold 10 more guns on his own from June to August.

Of the 16 weapons sold, five had been reported stolen, the news release said.

Both Morales and Prado are being held in the Lake County jail. Prado's next court date is Friday, while Morales has a Sept. 27 hearing scheduled.
