Authorities identify Mundelein woman who was struck, killed by vehicle

Authorities released the name of a 37-year-old Mundelein woman who died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Butterfield Road late Tuesday night.
Liliia Leshchenko died from blunt-force injuries sustained in the crash, the Lake County coroner's office said Thursday afternoon.
Leshchenko and a 39-year-old man were both struck by the vehicle just south of Canterbury Lane at 11:36 p.m. Tuesday.
Both were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where Leshchenko was pronounced dead in the emergency room. The man remains hospitalized.
The unnamed 67-year-old driver of the vehicle that struck the pair was uninjured, officials said Wednesday.
The crash remains under investigation.
