Libertyville hosting public hearing Sept. 18 on affordable housing plan

The Libertyville Plan Commission will hold a public hearing Monday, Sept. 18, to discuss a proposed attainable housing ordinance for the village.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center, 135 W Church St. in Libertyville.

The village's Human Relations Commission drafted the proposed ordinance, after hosting more than 20 meetings to discuss it.

The proposed ordinance establishes affordable housing requirements for new residential developments of 10 units or more. Requirements include making at least 15% of the units affordable, building those units with an exterior appearance compatible with market-rate units and building them concurrently with market-rate units.
