Hey Nonny all in on holiday shows
Many area residents have begun including a trip to Hey Nonny as part of their holiday season celebration and with good reason. The thriving bistro and music venue in downtown Arlington Heights has made tickets to a wide array of holiday shows.
"We love our alfresco season, have a blast with our Sounds of Summer concerts, and build calendars around our key festivals throughout the year, but there is nothing like the full-on musical wave that is the holiday season at Hey Nonny," said co-owner Chip Brooks. "The holidays mean different things to different people, and we try to include every musical style in our month-long line-up."
The holiday season kicks off on Thursday, Nov. 30, with a return of The Feathered Beaus, Chicago's most flamboyantly talented cabaret stars. Friday, Dec. 1, brings guitar ace Joel Patterson back to Hey Nonny following his sold-out appearance last year.
Saturday Dec. 2 and Sunday Dec. 3 should light the holiday lamps for fans as The Chris White Trio returns to perform their Charlie Brown Christmas Show. The trio features three of Chicago's top jazz performers playing the music that frames so many memories with shows at 7 and 9 p.m. on Dec. 2 and a matinee (time to be determined) on Dec. 3.
Laughter abounds on Friday, Dec. 8, as Hey Nonny presents its Holiday Stand-up Special.
Love & Rock, the national touring tribute to the Women Who Rock returns to Hey Nonny with a holiday show on Saturday, Dec. 9. Founded back in 2016, Love & Rock celebrates all the best female legends from the 60s to today.
Mid-December casts a wide musical net starting with The Four Chairs Cabaret show on Wednesday, Dec. 13, followed by the irreverent and always entertaining Dave Rudolph's Cracked Christmas on Friday, Dec. 15. The non-traditional musical/comedy performer was a hit at previous Hey Nonny appearances.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, Rosie & The Rivets are back, this time putting their 50s and early 60s retro spin on holiday music. The weekend wraps up with the Peppermint Patties Do Christmas. The Peppermint Patties are a Chicago-based vocal trio that was founded in 2018. They are classically trained singers who delight in singing all genres of music and their rich harmonies on holiday classics are sure to entertain.
The final week leading up to Christmas begins on Tuesday, Dec. 19, with Cafe Carly's Holiday Show. Led by local powerhouse Carly Stocking, Cafe Carly brings together a collection of Chicago's best voices, working together to build an extraordinary show around a specific theme- like the holidays.
Hey Nonny turns to the Dark Side of Yule with Classical Blast's unique mash-up of classic music and rock, this time with a Christmas twist on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Chicago sports and music fans may be very familiar with Wayne Messmer's voice carrying through an arena during a thrilling rendition"The Star-Spangled Banner" or "God Bless America," but everyone should experience his range in an intimate setting like Hey Nonny. He presents a holiday show on Thursday, Dec. 21. The next day, Dec. 22, Anthony Bruno's Christmas Spectacular takes over Hey Nonny. Which of the many instruments Bruno is proficient at will he play during his holiday show? That's not a question you will need to ask on Saturday, Dec. 23, as the Gaudete Brass Quintet presents its annual Bad Christmas Sweater Extravaganza.
For Brooks, it's an exciting time.
"It's almost exhausting to just read through that line-up. It's all in addition to our Hey Day Happy Hours and new Nightcap series performances. For the holidays, many of our patrons have particular favorites they see each year, others are going to come and explore the variety, which is what we are all about."
Brooks also mentions the dining and drinking options Hey Nonny offers for the holidays.
"Chef Noe continues to delight our dining patrons with his incredibly creative menu. Diners can enjoy the holiday lights and decorations just outside our windows or relax with a glass of wine or cocktail at our bar after some holiday shopping in the downtown area. Everyone needs a good night out during the holidays so it's never too soon to book your reservation."
