Teenage bicyclist injured when struck by vehicle in Buffalo Grove
A 13-year-old bicyclist suffered nonlife-threatening injuries when he was hit by a vehicle Wednesday morning in Buffalo Grove, authorities said.
Buffalo Grove police said the boy was riding north on Weiland Road near Newtown Drive at approximately 7:28 a.m. when the collision occurred in a crosswalk.
The driver of the vehicle, a 66-year-old Wheeling resident, remained on the scene and is cooperating with authorities, police said.
The boy received treatment at the scene then taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for additional treatment, authorities said.
No charges have been filed at this time, police said.
Weiland Road was closed for a short time Wednesday morning while police investigated.
The Buffalo Grove Police Department's traffic unit, along with the Major Crash Assistance Team, is investigating.
Buffalo Grove police reminded drivers that school is back in session and they should slow down and be alert for children in crosswalks and school zones.
