DAR Delivers Back-to-School Supplies to Sunny Hill Elementary School

Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, gathered Back-To-School supplies for students at Sunny Hill Elementary School in Carpentersville, in Barrington's District 220. The Chapter's goal was to create and deliver "Sunshine Bags" for students at Sunny Hill to enhance their educational experience. DAR members donated over 800 supplies, snacks, and educational items.

Regent Joyce Wright and Community Classroom Chair Joyce Moynihan delivered the bags and supplies to Sunny Hill Elementary School. Principal Lizzeth Fausto appreciated DAR's donation and continued generosity.

Fifty students in first through third grades will receive a "Sunshine Bag." Each bag includes pencils, erasers, baby wipes, markers, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, colored pencils and pencil boxes. Also included in the donation were nut-free snacks, a braille flag for education, and Constitution Week cards and handouts.

The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded fifty years ago in Barrington, IL in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization headquartered in Washington, DC.

DAR members promote historic preservation, education and patriotism via commemorative events, scholarships and educational initiatives, citizenship programs, service to veterans, meaningful community service and more.
