Why the wait for plates?
Flashback to April 16 as I renew my Illinois license plate sticker online for $151 and am advised that the state will be replacing my old license plate with the new style Illinois license plate. I pay my renewal fee and am told that the plate will be ordered soon after my payment.
I receive my new "T" (temporary) sticker in less than two weeks and check the website, which indicates that the new plate was ordered on April 28, 2023. Now, almost four months later, I am still waiting to receive my new license plate.
What is happening in the secretary of state's office where it takes God knows how long to send out a new license plate? I long for the days when the secretary of state was able to replace every license plate annually (before 1979) and was able to get it done in no more than three months.
Maybe our new secretary of state should concentrate more on the business of his office rather than what books our local libraries, with their locally elected representatives, have determined are appropriate on their shelves.
