Tee off to help Palatine American Legion raise funds

The Palatine American Legion Post 690 will hold a golf outing Saturday, Sept. 30, at Palatine Hills Golf Course, followed by a dinner at the American Legion as a fundraiser for Legion Charities.

The outing includes 18 holes of golf at the course, 512 W. Northwest Hwy. in Palatine, and a steak dinner at the post home, 122 W. Palatine Road in Palatine.

The cost of the outing is $100 per golfer or $400 for a foursome. Opportunities for sponsorships are also available. Additional information is available by calling Bill Pohlman at (847) 359-1606.

Checks should be written to the American Legion Post 690 and can be dropped off in the Legion clubroom prior to Sept. 22. Checks can also be mailed to Bill Pohlman, Attn: American Legion, 245 N. Elmwood Ave., Palatine, IL 60074, and must be received by Sept. 22.

"This is an opportunity for you to support the American Legion and have some fun," said Mark Cramer, commander of the American Legion Post 690. "We will be teeing off at 1 p.m. and dinner will be at 6 p.m. The outing will be a scramble with prizes for men and women winners, as well as Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Longest Putt."

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation's largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

The Palatine Chapter holds their monthly general meeting on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road in Palatine.
