An unpalatable review
In Jim Slusher's Aug. 3 column, he called the book "Lessons in Chemistry "the most pathetic piece of nonsensical drivel" he has read in years. Slusher doesn't need lessons in chemistry, he need lessons in compassion and understanding.
He says he believes in feminism, but he trashes a recent bestselling book read and loved by women all over the world, Maybe he hasn't been chased around the office and sexually harassed, molested or raped. Maybe some brilliant idea of his hasn't been taken on by someone else who takes credit for it. Such truths and others, are discussed in "Lesson in Chemistry," and have happened to women for generations.
In trashing the book, he says he is speaking for himself, but why trash a popular book in an editorial about understanding the separation of artistic criticism and politics?
Jim, if your wife serves you a mushroom casserole, don't eat it. Smart fans of "Lessons in Chemistry" will know what I'm talking about
