Paper's political biases are showing

Thank you for your letter to subscribers from John Lampinen. Unfortunately it seems more defensive than illuminating. He writes to correct some misconception about the timing of the Russian dossier stories. Thanks to him for correcting those who think you and other media, who beat the "Russia collusion" hoax for four-plus years, were mistaken if they believe the misinformation you published began before the 2016 election. Correction accepted.

However, I am at a loss as to why you think that pointing out the error of others in that detail of a major story you "reported on" for so many years should somehow absolve you of guilt in getting the story itself so wrong. You would have been far better off to admit the error and move on without attempting to shift the blame to your readers. (He did so in admiting the delayed reporting of the Hunter Biden's laptop matter.)

I have been reading the Daily Herald for about five years after giving up on the major Chicago daily thinking I would at least be getting better local coverage without the politics that permeates your competitor. I have been encouraged by many proclamations from various DH editors that you are, actually, quite fair-minded. I was right and wrong. The local stories are generally good and fair. However, the state and national stories? Not so much.

Your major sources are the Washington Post (quite liberal), the Associated Press (leans Left) and the PBS-owned Sun Times (quite liberal). You are then complicit in the errors of the politically driven editorial judgements they make.

My mother told me that I would be judged by my actions and not so much by my words. Please excuse me if I have my suspicions about which way your paper's politics lean when I look at your actions.
