Transcripts expose GOP lies about testimony

Regarding the column by Byron York on August 17, I had to stop reading after the first paragraph because he repeats a lie that Republicans have been pushing since July 31.

He states that "The testimony of former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer demolished Joe Biden's claim that he didn't talk to his son about Hunter's shady foreign business deals." How do I know that's a lie? Well, I can either believe Jim Comer and Jim Jordan who went on Fox later that night on July 31 and said exactly what Byron York says or I could read the actual transcript from the hearing, which incidentally takes all of 10 seconds to search "Devon Archer transcript."

In that transcript Archer was asked, by my count, 40 times by Republicans and 48 times by Democrats some version of the question "Did Hunter ever discuss his business with his father Joe Biden," and the answer 88 times was some version of "No" or "I don't recall" or "It was, you know, just general niceties and, you know, conversation in general, you know, about the geography, about the weather, whatever it may be."

In fact, when one reads the transcript in its entirety, it's clear that he said the exact opposite of what the Republicans and Byron York are claiming. In other words, they are lying. The facts are that the deposition "demolished" all of the Republicans talking points about Joe Biden talking to Hunter about his business dealings.

A lot of readers write the Daily Herald and say that they are "biased" because they don't give equal space to articles about "Hunter Biden's laptop" or the "Biden crime family." I'm just guessing here, but maybe that's because they don't want to keep repeating lies, but that's just my opinion.
