Aurora church celebrates 15 years in ministry with FaithFest XV Aug. 20

Faith Lutheran Church in Aurora will celebrate 15 years in ministry with FaithFest XV on Sunday, Aug. 20.

After 9:30 a.m. worship on the church lawn, the outdoor block party will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the church, 3000 Liberty St.

Pastor Rob Douglas said the public is invited. "We're celebrating with fresh grilled pork chops or chicken and all the fixins' provided by 5-B's in Aurora. And there will be cake and other deserts," he said.

He added, "We'll have abundant fun and fellowship featuring live music, a bouncy house and bags tournament. Bring your own chair,"

Admission is free. Reservations are requested online or at the church welcome center.

According to Rev. Douglas, "Fifteen years ago this month, Faith opened its doors on the corner of Eola Road and Liberty Street to our community.

"We had a mission of inviting, growing, and serving all people. Our purpose has been to connect people to God and to each other. Through Faith, lives have been changed," he said.

He added that during FaithFest XV month the church is hosting a fundraiser called "Foundations."

Contributions to the special offering will go toward helping Faith increase its impact in sharing God's love with the community and provide a strong foundation for the next 15 years.

A FaithFest XV gift catalog includes various items that families and individuals can gift to Faith on the special anniversary.
