Being tasteless does not make Trump racist
This is in response to Keith Raffel's opinion piece "Trump didn't win this judicial lottery." It's time for the media to stop fanning the flames of racism. Please.
Trump may write some despicable tweets. and many people don't like him for it. But he is not a racist.
Why does Mr. Raffel have to write that Trump attacks Black women? Where have you been, Mr. Raffel? Trump attacks everyone. You give examples of his tweets - lowlife, dog, low IQ, monster ... Where is the mention of race there or even an attack on women?
OK, maybe dog for someone who is unattractive. Is that all you've got?
He's written worse about white men - see any tweet about Mike Pence.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like any of it and wish he'd stop. I wish everyone would stop with the name calling in tweets and elsewhere. But the point is, as deplorable as the tweets are, they are not racist. It's time that the media stop all the baseless names and gaslighting.
Start by not quoting the tweets. Don't give attention to them. I know that you are new at this Keith. If this is how you are going to write, maybe you should go back into retirement.
