Taste of Glen Ellyn returns Aug. 16-20 at new location

The Taste of Glen Ellyn returns Aug. 16-20 with the same mix of family-friendly music, food and fun but at new location. Due to streetscape activity downtown, the free, five-day event will be held in the College of DuPage parking lot No. 6 on the southwest corner of Lambert and College roads.

The annual event, which draws over 25,000 residents from Glen Ellyn and the surrounding communities, features a variety of live entertainment including nationally known performers, local youth groups, food, cold beverages, business expos, and carnival rides.

On the opening and closing days, the festival will feature carnival rides only from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

On Thursday through Saturday, enjoy live music and sample a variety of food from local restaurants and your carnival favorites.

Festival hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Live music

Enjoy live bands of all genres on the main stage Thursday through Saturday.

On Thursday, Members Only, a 1980s cover band, will open the festival stage from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with music ranging from rock, pop and New Wave, followed by Hairbanger's Ball performing music from the iconic '80s bands like Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi, and Poison from 8 to 10 p.m.

On Friday, the southern and classic rock cover band Whiskey Thunder will open the main stage from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Enjoy old-time favorites from Fleetwood Mac, Journey and Duran Duran, and lively new music from Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris, and many more when Vinyl Goldmine takes the stage from 8 to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, School of Rock Glen Ellyn, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, returns to the Taste of Glen Ellyn stage from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Blockstar will pay homage to classic rock giants like ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Police, along with more recent bands like Foo Fighters, The Killers, Green Day & more, from 3 to 5 p.m.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., enjoy your favorite songs from the 1980s to today with the cover band Sealed with a Kiss.

The popular pop/rock band 7th Heaven will close out the festival music stage from 8 to 10 p.m.

Carnival

A portion of the proceeds of the carnival will fund the Glen Ellyn Chamber scholarship program for local high school students.

Discounted, nonrefundable wristbands will be available for $29.03 until Aug. 15. The discounted wristbands are not valid for 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

On-site purchase of daily wristbands will be $32 from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and $37 from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, plus a charge for credit cards.

Business Showcase Expo

Connecting businesses to thousands of customers, face to face, giving them a chance to showcase their businesses. Visit booths Thursday through Saturday.
