Man living in Naperville on student visa accused of soliciting 12-year-old girl
Bond has been set at $100,000 for a 19-year-old man living in Naperville on a student visa who has been accused of soliciting a 12-year-old girl through text messages to engage in sexual acts, officials said.
Eziz Serdarow, 19, is charged with indecent solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a minor, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney. Serdarow was also ordered to surrender his passport as a condition of the bond.
According to the release, Serdarow sent the girl texts on Aug. 4, asking her to go for a walk and also to send him pictures of herself. The girl told her parents about the messages, and they called Lisle police. Serdarow sent more texts to the victims phone as well, including photos of people engaged in sex acts and a text indicating he wanted to have sex with her, the release states.
Serdarow agreed to meet the victim in a park so he could drive them to his house to engage in sex, according to the news release. When Serdarow arrived in the park on Aug. 10, he was taken into custody by Lisle police, who upon executing a search warrant, found condoms and lubricant in Serdarow's vehicle.
Serdarow's next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 18.
"With text messaging and instant messaging functions, cellphones have become a part of the everyday lives of millions of people," said DuPage County State's Attorney Robert B. Berlin. "Unfortunately, text messaging has also become a virtual electronic playground where sexual predators can hide behind the anonymity it provides. I encourage parents to talk to their children about cellphone safety and to instruct their children to be cautious when using text or instant messaging features."
