Beware the fantasies of would-be victims
Is it possible for one who has achieved millions/billions of dollars, status, all the gold and silver to wear and display that the only thing left for them is control over people, land or say, a whole country?
Why would a successful person tell us that everyone is against him or out to get him? Because, if I can convince you, I get your sympathy. I get your attention. I present myself humbly to you and continually tell you what a good person I am.
Many years ago, a therapist friend told me that victims hold a lot of power. The victim's familiar cry is "they are out for me." Soon, it becomes, "they are out to get us." The victim wants to bring you into his circle. He creates fear and injustice. People listen and become angry. Their body gets an adrenaline kick. Everyone around them expresses the same anger.
Men and women begin thinking, "I know the truth. They (government, politicians, enemies, nationalities) are out for me. I am better than others." Everyday kind and sympathetic people are drawn into fantasy and away from reality.
Look beyond the victim's fantasy. Victims are masters in manipulating others. Hitler did it in the 1930s. The playbook is the same, large national rallies and the ability to convince citizens the problems were not internal but external.
Beware of the victim's message and his motive. For Putin, his desire is to rebuild the Russian Empire. A former president talks about revenge because he lost a fair election and idealizes dictators. I question the desire for power from leaders who favor fascist/authoritarian ideals - and, then takes your freedom, money and independence.
Beware of a sheep in wolf's clothing. Victims hold a lot of power.
