US Foods reports strong second quarter

ROSEMONT - US Foods Holding Corp., one of the largest food service distributors in the United States, reported financial results Wednesday for its fiscal year second quarter, including a 2% increase in net sales to $9 billion.

Net income per share was 76 cents, as compared to 27 cents in the same quarter last year.

Total case volume increased 2.7%, the company said.

"We continue to drive healthy case volume growth overall and especially in our target customer types, with broadline independent restaurant customer case volume increasing 5.5%," said Dave Flitman, CEO. "We also grew case volume 7% in both health care and hospitality."
