Aurora pastor to take listening tour of congregants

The Rev. Tammy Scott, pastor at Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora, will take a listening tour of congregants.

On Thursday, Aug. 17, Rev. Scott will open a five-date series of small-group listening sessions in congregants' homes. The informal gatherings are designed to help Pastor Tammy meet and learn about the congregation.

The series continues Aug. 21, 24, 29 and Sept. 9. All sessions will take place in Aurora homes except for the final meeting which will be held in North Aurora. Hosts will provide desserts and beverages.

Rev. Scott, who was previously lead pastor at Sugar Grove UMC, joined Wesley on July 1. She succeeded the Rev. John Bell who moved to Louisville, Ky., after 10 years of ministry at Wesley.

A native of Lockport, Rev. Scott previously served pastorates in Sugar Grove, Joliet, Wilmette, Bolingbrook, Minooka and Naperville. She chairs the UMC Northern Illinois Conference Council on Finance and Administration.

Wesley UMC, 14 N. May St. in Aurora, holds Sunday worship services at 9:30 a.m. online and in person at 10:30 a.m.
