Respect and the anthem

A recent letter made note of the "disrespect" shown by American soccer players by not singing along or placing hands over hearts during our national anthem. Could it be that rather than a protest, the women were standing quietly and respectfully? Instead of seeing disrespect and protests in the act of standing quietly, possibly the news media and the talking heads should focus their ire at those who talk, swill beer and play on their phones while the anthem is playing at a sporting event.
