Thankfully, village stays out of Bears stadium issue
I've been fortunate to live in Buffalo Grove for many years. Over that time, we've had a reputation of being well-managed by our elected officials and staff. One thing that I have recently found most admirable about our leadership is that it has not joined other communities in a madcap race to land the Chicago Bears.
We could have offered the team the golf course or some other open space that I don't happen to use, but we didn't.
We wisely decided not to compete with other towns, to be fleeced by grandiose redevelopment deals requiring decades of mega-financing to pay for the infrastructure and tax waivers the team and its stadium would require, leading to a diagnosis of CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy) among the vast majority of players.
Go Bears (somewhere else)!
