Trying to understand the White Sox debacle
Prior to the start of the 2023 White Sox season, we fans were hyped up and ready to cheer on our team. But, as in the past, the White Sox have once again disappointed its fan base with mediocre baseball. A team that looked like a potential World Series candidate seems like they couldn't beat a high school softball team.
Their pitching is atrocious. And there does not seem to be any effort to win with the rest of the team. Some players have even been seen of TV to remark" I hate this (expletive) place."
What is wrong?
From my standpoint, let's start with pitching. Ever since Ethan Katz joined the team, their pitching has been terrible. The bullpen regularly blows leads late in the games and the starting pitching implodes too often. Maybe Katz should get his nose out of that notebook he is always writing in and watch his pitchers more often.
All Don Cooper had was a pitch counter in his hand during the games. Seemed to work well for him.
Another thing I can't stomach is the way our batters slog down to first base when they hit an infield ball. Did it ever occur to them that there could be a wild throw, a dropped grounder, or a dropped ball by the first baseman? Maybe they are afraid of pulling a hamstring, which seems to be happening quite a bit with certain players.
And let's not forget the manager, Grifol. He seems to be another Jerry Reinsdorf failure.
Remember Robin Ventura? A man who never coached or managed, but was given the job of managing a professional baseball team. The Sox don't need a soft manager. What they need is a taskmaster who knows baseball and can chew out his players when needed.
Adolescent millionaires need to be put in their place every once in a while.
But the Sox dog and pony show will continue. So, we can all wait for the Bears' season to start. (I hope I don't have to write a football related letter later).
