Graceland Avenue rail crossing in Des Plaines to close Aug. 14

If the Graceland Avenue railroad crossing in Des Plaines is part of your regular route, take note.

It will be closed starting Aug. 14 for construction. Work is expected to be completed, assuming the weather cooperates, by 5 p.m. Aug. 24.

Crews will be working on the crossing between Northwest Highway/Miner Street and Ellinwood Street. A posted detour will route motorists to Northwest Highway, Broadway Street, Golf Road, Wolf Road and Oakton Street.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for trips through this area and pay close attention to signs and speed limits in work zones.
