Elgin's Holy Trinity Quilters donate to Lutheran World Relief

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin recently celebrated Holy Trinity Quilters during the July 30 worship.

The quilting group members prepare material, cut into squares, sew, and finish. They tie the batting on each quilt.

Currently, 71 quilts are ready to ship to countries served by Lutheran World Relief. The nonprofit organization operates in East and West Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, helping some of the world's poorest communities build the resilience they need to thrive.

The Elgin group sends more than 100 quilts each year.

The group meets from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on first and fourth Tuesdays in Lind Hall of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division St. in downtown Elgin. They also enjoy a nice coffee break during the morning.

They welcome new members. Currently, they have 13 dedicated members.
