Back-to-school event at Gurnee library will include free backpacks, nature kits

The Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods will be giving away backpacks with nature explorer kits at a back-to-school event at Newport-Warren Public Library in Gurnee from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The kits include nature field guides, art supplies, an activity book, local mental health resources, school supplies, water bottles, lip balm and sunscreen. The nature kits are intended to encourage families to explore Lake County. There will be other resources at the event for families, and no registration is required.

Newport-Warren Public Library is at 224 O'Plaine Road.
