GOP senators had their chance to retire Trump

Republican senators, during the second impeachment of Donald J. Trump, had an opportunity to convict him, which would have put into play a rule that would preclude him from seeking federal office again.

Obviously, that did not happen. Fast forward to today.

The gutless senators, for reasons now clear, put party over the best interest of the nation, perhaps fearful of retribution from a known vengeful bully. Who knows for certain. With that cowardice, they have placed the party in the depths as we struggle with the logic of his front-runner status and impending third indictment.

Who then is to blame for this insanity? You don't have to look far.
