Narcan dispenser installed in Arlington Heights Police Department lobby

Arlington Heights police and other officials Saturday will unveil a vending machine containing overdose-reversing medication Narcan and fentanyl testing strips in the police department lobby.

And the department's current drug collection box - designed for unwanted solid narcotics such as pills - now will accept sharps and liquid narcotics, officials said.

The resources are available to the public for free 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. at 200 E. Sigwalt St.

Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes, Police Chief Nick Pecora, Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County Executive Director Christina Seibert and Live4Lali Executive Director Laura Fry are expected to attend.
