The Dayton brothers would not approve

As a 91-year-old, I'm probably the only one alive who reported to Bruce and Ken Dayton at the time they founded Target. They charged me specifically in developing the Target Foundation.

Bruce Dayton wrote a private family book on George Draper Dayton, who was his inspiration. George Draper Dayton was a very prosperous business leader in farming, banking and retail. He also was a very dedicated evangelical Christian who attributed his success to following the principles of The New Testament in developing and overeating his enterprises. They contributed substantially to the anchors of the best business principles foundational to successful businesses.

From time to time I think it is helpful to review back to our founding principles. I was charged to include his Christian beliefs in the Target Foundation.

What Target is doing today strongly violates their foundational Biblical Christian underpinning. Of course, the current management has the right to operate today with their beliefs. Yet, for historical background, the Dayton Brothers would be shocked with what Target has become today.

Since its beginning, Target has been a family shopping destination, known for its values in merchandise and price. Promoting a controversial partisan, anti-family agenda has changed that once proud reputation.

As an older citizen, I believe it is essential to refer to the founders and their Biblical principles, which were foundational in creating their successful business.
