Leeco Steel acquires Texas facility

LISLE - Leeco Steel, North America's largest supplier of steel plate, has acquired Titan Steel in Alvarado, Texas, a steel plate processor.

As part of the acquisition, Leeco will retain Titan Steel's entire staff, its Alvarado, TX facility and the company's steel plate cutting, drilling and milling machines. The facility will be rebranded as Leeco Steel's Alvarado processing plant.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. The acquisition was finalized on June 30, and operations at Leeco Steel Alvarado started Wednesday, July 5.

This is Leeco Steel's first acquisition and will expand the company's processing capabilities, which now includes milling services in addition to plasma and oxy-fuel cutting, drilling, tapping, beveling, chamfering, shot blasting and parts cleaning.

"The addition of the Titan Steel facility allows us to expand our value-added processing services and our market reach," said Denton Nordhues, president and CEO of Lisle-based Leeco Steel.

With the addition of the Alvarado location, Leeco will be able to produce parts that require precision machining and milling. These parts are often used as components on larger pieces of equipment, such as transmission towers, that can be time-consuming and inefficient for manufacturers to produce in-house, the company said.

"We are excited to offer our customers even more value-added services, particularly in the South, Southeast and Southwest regions," said John Purcell, Leeco's vice president of sales. "Our goal is to be a more comprehensive steel plate supply chain partner to all of our customers, whether that means providing raw plate or augmenting existing customer capabilities with processed parts."
