Elgin's St. Hugh of Lincoln hosts blood drive July 20

St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Church in Elgin is once again partnering with Versiti Blood Center to host a community blood drive on Thursday, July 20.

It will be 2:30 to 7 p.m. in Wiedrich Hall at the church located on the southeast corner of Highland Avenue and Randall Road.

With blood donations typically down during the busy summer months, parishioners and the public are asked to help meet the need for blood at many suburban hospitals.

Register for a convenient time to donate at www.Versiti.org/IL or by calling the blood center at 800-7TO-GIVE.

Giving blood is a quick, simple way to give back to your community. The donation process from the time you arrive to the time you leave is about an hour, but the actual donation time is only 8-10 minutes. Make sure you bring verification of your identity - a driver's license, donor ID card or government-issued ID card - showing your name and birthdate.

Your donation of a single pint of blood will save up to three lives. While appointments are appreciated, walk-ins are welcome.
