Thief takes $2,600 using debit card stolen in Des Plaines, police say
A thief, possibly working with a partner, stole a woman's debit card at a store in Des Plaines and then took $2,600 from her bank account, police said Wednesday.
The thefts occurred Tuesday afternoon, police said. The card was taken from a credit card terminal in a store on the 500 block of Metropolitan Way while the woman was distracted by someone, police said.
The woman learned about the improper cash withdrawals when she was notified by her bank.
The woman described the man who distracted her as having a strong build and a thin beard, police said.
